During the storms and floods of winter 2013/14, Oliver East walked from Arnside to Carlisle keeping as close to the train line as possible. All 140 miles and 30+ train stations of the Cumbrian coastline are recorded in the comic ‘The Homesick Truant’s Cumbrian Yarn’. Ten days walking also meant a commission for ten murals at The Factory in Kendal. Read the full story on Down The Tubes.

“The language in Homesick Truant really dances along with East’s slippy progress on the muddy paths… we’re treated to observations of the landscape unfolding beneath his feet, a procession of people he encounters, all captured in East’s beautiful descriptive turn of phrase.” Richard Bruton – Forbidden Planet

The Homesick Truant’s Cumbrian Yarn was probably the best comic series I read last year.” Craig Naples – Writer Pictures
